I'm sure fellow filmmakers who've shot beautifully executed interviews or worked on effective course material, might be thinking "nice easy home run". But that's not the way Native do things...
It's not about making things easy, and it's not about it being a complex 'cinematic' beautiful visual. At the end of the day this was a course to ensure the viewers felt connected to the land and the Earth. Understanding what not to film, is just as important as knowing what to capture. So before each scene I asked myself: What will the viewer hear? What will they see? How should they feel? What will pull them out of a moment? What will help them stay focussed?
Deciding to distill a scene down to it's sensory parts to ensure the viewer felt grounded and embedded within each moment.
